Nollywood actor Ken Erics has paid an emotional tribute to late veteran actor Patrick Okoye, popularly known as Energy, following news of his death.
Sharing a photo of the deceased on social media, Ken Erics revealed that the late actor’s passing came as a huge shock because they had spoken less than 24 hours before his death, and he appeared healthy and full of life at the time.
The actor described Patrick Okoye as one of the people who greatly influenced his journey into the entertainment industry.
According to him, the late actor encouraged him to study Theatre Arts at Nnamdi Azikiwe University and later became one of his lecturers in acting and dance.
Ken Erics, who also hails from Enugwu Ukwu in Anambra State like the late actor, recounted how Patrick Okoye constantly guided and motivated young talents within and outside the university environment.
He noted that the veteran actor often took students to auditions and helped nurture many individuals who later became successful in the entertainment industry.
He further described the late actor as a talented dancer, singer and performer who inspired him musically and introduced him to studio recording sessions during his early years.
Ken Erics added that Patrick Okoye remained passionate about mentoring upcoming talents and expressed sadness over the painful loss to the creative industry.
He wrote:
“Uncle P! Energy!
This one hits hard because we spoke barely 24hrs before your demise and you were hale and hearty! Getting a call from your number 24hrs later to this devastation was least expected. I don’t know where to begin .
Indeed the creative world has lost a gem!
This man right here, encouraged my talent and helped me pursue my dreams by making sure I enrolled to study Theatre Arts. He, alongside other great minds, was my acting and dance teacher in my university days as a Theatre Arts Student in UNIZIK . Also from my hometown of Enugwu Ukwu, Anambra State. An amazing human , always willing to listen and direct . A motivator . This man nurtured raw talents and made STARS many of whom are doing well in the entertainment space. I remember , as a student , joining him in his car to attend movie auditions outside school sessions. His encouragement and guidance was palpable.
Patosky !! As he was fondly called by all Theatre community was the life wire of rehearsals and stage performances as a newbie in improvisation classes.
A very energetic and skilled dancer !
An exceptional Actor!
And a great Singer whose songs (some of which he introduced to our class for play productions) inspired me into doing movie soundtracks .
He was one of the firsts to take me to a recording studio to do back up vocals for his songs.
Thank you Sir for the nurture !
I’m glad we got to do so many projects together professionally.
A total Artist to the core!
Death had dealt us a heavy blow.
Rest with the Angels Uncle Pat!
May all your loved ones all over the world be comforted.
Good night Energy!
Good night Patosky!
Good night the Shimmer Master!!
Rest well as you journey through the Chthonic realm … 🙏🕊️💔.”
