Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has reacted to the death of Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf, the village head of Galla in Borgu Emirate, following his reported killing by bandits.
The governor’s condolence message was disclosed on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim.
Ahmed Yusuf was reportedly the brother of Senator Sabi Abdullahi, Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture, making the incident a major loss for the senator’s family and the wider community.
Bago Mourns Village Head
Governor Bago expressed his condolences to Senator Abdullahi, the deceased’s relatives, residents of Galla and the entire Borgu Emirate.
He described the late traditional ruler as a man who lived a meaningful life and died while carrying out his responsibility to those under his leadership.
“The deceased lived a good life and died in defending his subjects,” Bago said.
The Niger governor urged the bereaved family and members of the community to draw strength from the legacy left behind by the late village head.
He also prayed for the deceased, asking Allah to grant him Aljanna Firdausi and provide comfort and strength to his loved ones during the period of mourning.
Governor Assures Community of Support
Bago further assured the family of Ahmed Yusuf, the Galla community and the Borgu Emirate of his continued support following the tragic incident.
However, the statement from the governor’s office did not provide additional information about how the traditional ruler was killed or disclose details of any security operation linked to the incident.
