A Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after sharing a painful and confusing family experience on social media platform X.
She revealed how an unexpected situation involving her mother and her husband’s younger brother turned her postpartum period into an emotional struggle.
The woman explained that she had recently welcomed a baby and invited her mother to stay with the family to help with omugwo, a traditional postpartum care practice commonly observed in Nigerian homes.
However, what was expected to be a time of care, healing, and family support reportedly took a troubling turn, leaving her overwhelmed and uncertain about how to move forward.
Unexpected Situation at Home
According to her account, the incident involved her 57-year-old mother and her husband’s 32-year-old younger brother, both of whom had been under the same roof during her recovery period.
According to her narration and emotional outburst on social media, the woman alleged that her mother and her husband’s younger brother were caught being intimate inside her home. She explained that the shocking incident has left her feeling embarrassed, confused, and emotionally unsettled.
She wrote:
“I gave birth last month and my mother came to stay with me for omugwo. She left her home to come and help take care of me and the baby. My father passed away over 6 years ago, and we are five children, three girls and two boys. I’m the second child.
“My mother has been with us for about three weeks now, and something happened that has left me shocked, ashamed, and confused. We caught my husband’s younger brother, who is 32 years old, sleeping with my mother, who is 57 years old.
“Mummy, I don’t even know how to process this. I feel so embarras$$ed and disappointed. I keep wondering how my husband is looking at me and my family now.”
She expressed further disgust about how her husband younger brother has reacted to the situation without any guilt or shame.
“The w0rst part is that his brother is saying they are both adults and can do whatever they want.” She revealed.
Furthermore, she revealed that she immediately asked her mother to leave the house after catching her in what she described as a disgraceful act.
She added:
“I was so angry that I told my mother to start packing her things because I don’t want her staying in my house anymore. Right now, I don’t know how to explain this situation to my siblings or whether I should even tell them at all.”
“I feel embarrassed, and completely confused. What would you do if you were in my shoes? How do I handle this, how is my husband seeing my family now??”
