Kira Taiwo, daughter of late Nollywood veteran Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has broken her silence over a viral claim concerning her family.
A story making the rounds on social media alleged that Kira’s sister had welcomed a baby boy only days after the death and burial of their father.
The report was accompanied by photographs and a video of a newborn, with the caption, “My Daddy’s Carbon Copy.” The post suggested that the child’s appearance bore a striking resemblance to the late actor.
Kira Taiwo Denies the Report
The claim quickly attracted attention and prompted several people to contact the family for clarification.
Kira subsequently addressed the matter through her Instagram story, firmly denying that her sister had recently given birth.
She explained that the family had been receiving calls and messages from concerned friends and relatives because of the viral report.
In her statement, Kira wrote:
“DISCLAIMER. Please disregard the information currently circulating that my sister has given birth.
This is not true. We have been receiving several calls and messages from friends and family asking about it, so we felt the need to clarify publicly.
At a time when our family is mourning the loss of our father, we kindly ask everyone to stop spreading or sharing unverified information about our family. Thank you for your understanding, prayers and respect for our privacy at this difficult time.”
Viral Photos Are From 2024
Investigations into the viral content also showed that the photographs and video were not recent.
The images were traced to February 2024, when Kira herself welcomed her first child while Ogogo was still alive.
The late actor had publicly celebrated becoming a grandfather at the time.
There was also no fresh announcement from the family confirming the birth of another child following Ogogo’s death.
Family Continues to Mourn Ogogo
The false report emerged barely days after the death of the veteran actor, who passed away at the age of 66 on Sunday, August 23, 2026, following a battle with cancer.
Ogogo was buried on Monday, August 24, in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites.
As the family continues to mourn the celebrated Yoruba actor, Kira’s reaction highlights their frustration over the spread of unverified information and their request for privacy and sensitivity during the difficult period.
