The Accord Party has recorded victories at the polling units of two prominent opposition figures in the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
Results published on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polling units associated with Senator Iyiola Omisore and former Osun State Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
At Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area, Accord secured 131 votes.
The APC came second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded 10 votes.
The polling unit is associated with Omisore, a former Osun deputy governor and former National Secretary of the APC.
Accord Also Wins at Oyinlola’s Polling Unit
Accord also secured victory at the polling unit of former Osun governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola in Okuku, Odo-Otin Local Government Area.
The IReV result showed that Accord polled 125 votes, while the APC again finished second with 85 votes.
The ADC recorded five votes at the unit.
The outcome is particularly notable given Oyinlola’s support for APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji ahead of the election.
Osun Governorship Election
Voters across all 30 local government areas of Osun State went to the polls on Saturday, August 15, to elect a governor for the next four years.
The leading candidates in the contest are incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam.
INEC has continued uploading results from individual polling units to the IReV portal as sorting, counting and collation progress across the state.
The emerging results do not represent the final outcome of the election, which will be determined after the complete collation and official declaration by INEC.
