Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the death of actor Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, popularly known as Cjay.
News of the actor’s passing was announced by his colleague, actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday, who shared an emotional video on Instagram on Wednesday.
Nkechi Blessing Announces Cjay’s Death
In the video, Nkechi appeared visibly heartbroken as she struggled to hold back tears while speaking about the actor’s death.
The actress disclosed that she was at the hospital where Cjay was pronounced dead.
However, she did not reveal what led to the actor’s death or provide further information about the circumstances surrounding his passing.
Sharing the emotional clip, Nkechi wrote:
“Cjay this was never the plan💔💔 Guys unfortunately I won’t be dropping my movie anymore!! This one pain me.”
Who Was Cjay?
Cjay, whose full name was Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, hailed from Awka in Anambra State but was based in Lagos.
He joined the professional Nollywood scene in 2021 and gradually built a career through appearances in several movie productions.
Movies Cjay Featured In
During his acting career, Cjay appeared in a number of Nollywood productions.
Some of the films credited to him include Larry Cold, Mum Overnight, A Day To My Wedding, The Lies She Tell and What Time Left.
His death has left colleagues and other members of the Nigerian film industry mourning as tributes begin to emerge following the heartbreaking announcement.
