MultiChoice has announced that four additional SuperSport channels will be introduced on DStv from August 19, 2026, as the company moves to expand the amount of sports content available to viewers and address scheduling conflicts during periods when several major competitions are taking place simultaneously.
The new channels are expected to provide DStv subscribers with more options for following football and other sporting events, particularly when multiple matches are scheduled at the same time.
Four new SuperSport channels coming to DStv
One of the new additions is SuperSport Football Plus, which will focus on premium football coverage and is expected to broadcast selected UEFA Champions League matches.
Another new channel, SuperSport Africa, will concentrate on sporting events from South Africa and other parts of the African continent, providing subscribers with broader access to competitions taking place across Africa.
The remaining two channels are designed largely to address the issue of simultaneous fixtures.
SuperSport KickOff will be used to carry additional football matches when several games are scheduled to begin at the same time.
Meanwhile, SuperSport Extra 2 will provide additional broadcasting capacity when major sporting events clash on the same day.
The four channels form part of a broader restructuring of MultiChoice’s sports offering on the DStv platform.
DStv Access package also receives additions
Separately, the DStv Access package, which is mainly available to subscribers in South Africa, has already received several additions this year.
WWE was added to channel 128, while Trace Gospel was introduced on channel 322 and Trace Ngoma on channel 326.
The additions have given subscribers on the lower-tier package greater variety beyond the channels that were previously available to them.
MultiChoice also made all 51 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup available live to DStv Access subscribers and customers on higher-tier packages.
The tournament concluded on July 19, 2026, with Spain emerging as champions.
The latest channel expansion is expected to give DStv viewers greater flexibility when following football and other sporting events, particularly during busy periods when several competitions are being played concurrently.
MultiChoice keeps DStv subscription prices unchanged
In another development that could come as welcome news to subscribers, MultiChoice has confirmed that DStv subscription prices will remain unchanged throughout 2026.
The decision marks a departure from the company’s usual practice of making annual price adjustments and comes as MultiChoice seeks to address subscriber losses amid increasing competition from streaming platforms.
Confirming the decision, MultiChoice CEO South Africa Willington Ngwepe said:
“We will not be having an inflation adjustment to pricing. So we’ll keep the prices flat again in appreciation of the circumstances that we are in.”
The company is therefore combining the expanded sports offering with unchanged subscription prices as it seeks to make the DStv platform more attractive to viewers amid changing consumer viewing habits and competition from streaming services.
