Nigerian Afrobeats singer Kizz Daniel has explained why he became less active in the music scene, revealing that the death of his mother was behind his decision to take a break.
The singer opened up about the personal loss on Friday while responding to a fan on X who questioned his prolonged absence from music.
The fan appeared to believe that Kizz Daniel had stepped away because he was working on a new album. However, the singer clarified that his decision had nothing to do with releasing a new project.
Kizz Daniel speaks about mother’s death
According to Kizz Daniel, he deliberately paused his career to deal with the death of his mother, who passed away earlier this year.
“I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year,” Kizz Daniel wrote on X.
The singer’s brief but emotional response gave fans an insight into the personal circumstances behind his relatively quiet year.
Kizz Daniel has built a reputation for regularly releasing music and entertaining his audience, making his reduced presence particularly noticeable to fans who had been expecting new songs or a major project.
Singer says he must keep moving

“But I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family,” he added.
