The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its timetable for primary elections ahead of a number of legislative contests scheduled to take place in 2026.
The schedule covers four State House of Assembly constituencies recently restored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as well as constituencies affected by upcoming legislative by-elections.
The announcement was made by the APC national secretariat following INEC’s decision to restore four previously suppressed state constituencies in Delta and Kogi states.
APC announces primaries for restored constituencies
The party directed its Delta and Kogi chapters to prepare for primary elections in the restored constituencies.
In Delta State, the affected constituencies are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II.
In Kogi State, the restored constituency is Yagba West II.
The APC said it would conduct fresh primaries in the four constituencies following INEC’s restoration, paving the way for the affected electoral contests.
By-elections across four states
The party’s timetable also covers primary elections for legislative by-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.
The constituencies listed by the APC are:
- Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency — Gombe State
- Disina State Constituency — Bauchi State
- Sakwa State Constituency — Bauchi State
- Udu State Constituency — Delta State
- Dawakin Kudu State Constituency — Kano State
With the four restored constituencies and five constituencies linked to by-elections, a total of nine constituencies across five states are covered by the party’s latest schedule.
The APC’s decision to issue a unified timetable is expected to allow its chapters in the affected states to coordinate their internal electoral activities ahead of the 2026 contests.
The party has now directed its relevant state chapters to commence preparations for the primaries in line with the timetable released by its national secretariat.
