The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has outlined the minimum monthly salary applicable to workers across its nine officially recognised professional levels.
The classification is used by the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and is based on the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO), developed by the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
UAE’s 9 professional job levels
According to MoHRE, workers are grouped into nine categories based on their occupations and professional responsibilities.
The ministry stated:
“Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) classifies workers into 9 professional levels according to the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO) issued by the International Labour Organization.”
The nine categories are:
- Legislators, managers and business executives
- Scientific, technical and human professionals
- Scientific, technical and humanitarian technicians
- Writing professionals
- Service and sales workers
- Skilled agricultural, fisheries and animal husbandry workers
- Construction, mining and other skilled craftsmen
- Machinery and equipment operators and assemblers
- Workers in simple occupations
The categories cover various types of employment, ranging from managerial and professional positions to technical roles, skilled trades, agricultural jobs, machine operation and entry-level work.
Minimum monthly salary for UAE workers
The minimum monthly salary highlighted for workers across the nine professional classifications is AED 4,000, equivalent to about N1.47 million based on the conversion provided.
The salary figure provides a minimum benchmark for eligible workers, although actual earnings can vary depending on the worker’s occupation, qualifications, employer and experience.
