The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has finally addressed the circumstances surrounding his death in an official public statement.
In a message shared on Instagram on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, the family confirmed that the actor died on May 11 at Evercare Hospital in Lekki, Lagos.
They also dismissed earlier reports linking his death to Stage 4 liver cancer, clarifying that Alexx passed away due to complications caused by advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
According to the statement, the actor fought the illness courageously and remained hopeful throughout his battle. The family described him as a loving husband, son, brother, and friend who endured the difficult period with faith, strength, and courage.
“After a brief but courageous battle, Alexx passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer. Throughout this difficult journey, he bore his pain with remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and enduring hope, believing that one day his testimony would be shared with the world.”
The family also appealed to the public to respect their privacy while they mourn the painful loss. They added that funeral arrangements and other family matters would be announced later.
