Nigerians have continued to mourn the reported death of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, who allegedly passed away at a Lagos hospital on Monday, May 11, after battling liver cancer.
Before the sad news surfaced online, an X user identified as @ChiLaHotie had earlier expressed concern over the actor’s absence at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), which was held on Saturday, May 9.
“Just realized Alex Ekubo didn’t attend #AMVCA. I hope & pray all is fine with him fr. That’s one celeb i luff.”
Following reports of his passing, a lawyer known on X as @IChimamah also shared screenshots of several unanswered messages she had reportedly sent to the actor since 2025.
The barrister stated that she cared deeply about Alexx and was heartbroken by the news of his death. According to her, the last message she sent to him was on May 2 after he crossed her mind.
“Hey Alex you’ve just crossed my mind again and I thought to check up on you, I hope you are okay. I pray that all is well with you and you will come back stronger and better.”
Her emotional post has since touched many social media users, with several Nigerians reacting to the messages and mourning the late actor.
