The Lagos transport and social communities have been thrown into mourning following the death of Chief Taoreed Faronbi, popularly known as Baba Alado.
Faronbi reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday, September 26, 2026. He was buried later the same day in accordance with Islamic burial rites.
MC Oluomo mourns Baba Alado
President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has expressed sadness over the death of the prominent transport leader and socialite.
MC Oluomo shared a condolence message on Instagram on Sunday, September 27, in which he reflected on Baba Alado’s contributions and relationships within the transport sector and the wider Lagos community.
He also extended his sympathies to the deceased’s family, friends, associates and everyone affected by his passing.
In his message, MC Oluomo prayed for Allah to forgive Baba Alado’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
Who was Baba Alado?
Chief Taoreed Faronbi was the Olori Ebi of the Alagbeji Royal Family in Papa Ajao, Mushin.
He was also known by several traditional and community titles, including Akinrogun of Isolo Kingdom and Babaloja of Aswani International Market.
Although he was widely recognised within Lagos’ transport circles, Faronbi’s activities extended beyond the sector.
He was involved in real estate and was also regarded as a notable figure in Lagos’ social scene, where he maintained relationships with people across different communities.
His death has therefore sparked mourning among those who knew him through his work in transportation, business, community affairs and social circles.
As tributes continue to emerge, family members, friends, associates and members of the transport community are remembering Baba Alado and his contributions during his lifetime.
