Senator Shehu Sani has predicted that the incumbent governor of Osun State could struggle to retain his position in the upcoming governorship election unless there is a major upset.
The former Kaduna Central lawmaker shared his assessment of the political situation in Osun in a post on his official X account on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Sani pointed to divisions within the opposition as one of the factors that could favour the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polls.
He also commented on the political background of members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun, arguing that many of them have strong ties to the APC.
In his words:
“Osun; with a divided opposition and the fact that almost all of the ADC members in the state are genetically and spiritually from the APC, only a miracle or magic will save the incumbent Governor. In the absence of both miracle and magic, Hope Uzodinma will undoubtedly retrieve Osun for APC.”
The senator’s prediction comes as political activities intensify ahead of the Osun governorship election.
According to Sani’s assessment, a divided opposition could make it more difficult for the incumbent administration to secure another term, particularly if opposition votes are split among different political platforms.
Although Sani did not specifically name the incumbent governor in his post, his comments were interpreted as an assessment of the sitting administration’s chances at the forthcoming election.
His prediction has added to the growing political commentary surrounding the race, with the APC and opposition parties seeking to consolidate support across the state ahead of the poll.
