An old video of Apostle Arome Osayi discussing his experience with facial palsy has resurfaced online, attracting renewed attention to the founder of Remnant Christian Network (RCN).
The footage began circulating again on September 28, 2026, amid the ongoing online exchange between the clergyman and social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
Apostle Arome recalls facial palsy diagnosis
In the resurfaced clip, Osayi was seen speaking to a congregation about his experience after visiting a doctor during a missionary trip to London.
According to the preacher, that was when he first learnt the medical name for the condition affecting his face.
“The moment I saw the doctor, he said, ‘This is palsy 7, facial palsy.’ I didn’t know he had a name,” he said.
Osayi went on to explain that he had sought divine intervention after being diagnosed, including through prayer and fasting.
However, he said he believed he received a response indicating that the condition would remain.
“God said he will not heal it. I will leave it like that. This is how he wants me to be,” he shared.
Cleric explains how he views the condition
Rather than focusing on the physical effect of the condition, Osayi said his faith had helped him develop a different perspective about himself.
He spoke about what he described as “the lamp of the spirit of adoption”, which he said gives him an inner understanding of his identity beyond his physical appearance.
According to the cleric, this inner sense of identity helps him avoid feelings of inadequacy or depression linked to his facial condition.
“I don’t even remember how my face looks, really. Because there is a lamp I have inside that gives me insight into who I am beyond my face,” he explained.
Old video resurfaces amid VDM controversy
The renewed interest in Osayi’s comments comes at a time when the preacher has been facing criticism from VeryDarkMan.
VDM recently criticised the cleric over his comments about Nigeria’s national calling and the role of spiritual revival in the country’s future.
The social media activist questioned aspects of Osayi’s message, leading to an online debate involving the two personalities and other commentators.
Against that backdrop, the resurfaced video of Osayi discussing his facial palsy has attracted fresh reactions, with social media users revisiting his earlier remarks about his condition and his religious interpretation of the experience.
