A social media user, King Chidi, has ignited widespread debate online after publicly holding Favour, the 20 year old woman who allegedly took her own life in July 2026 following a reported sexual assault by content creator Odogwu Asaba, responsible for what happened to her.
Instead of directing his criticism at the accused, Chidi used a post shared on Thursday, July 16, 2026, to focus on Favour.
Posting her photograph on Instagram, he questioned her character, basing his remarks on her appearance and activity on social media.
According to him, Favour was not as innocent as many people had portrayed her. He cited videos of her dancing online as proof of his claims about her character, rather than condemning the content creator, who had been arrested on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Chidi doubles down on victim blaming stance
Chidi admitted that his remarks had triggered intense criticism, with numerous social media users filling his comment section after he described Favour as “stupid” for choosing to meet someone she barely knew at a hotel without informing her family.
Despite the backlash, he stood by his position, insisting that public attention had been placed almost entirely on the tragic outcome while overlooking what he considered avoidable circumstances.
He further argued that young women should stop seeking attention on social media and ultimately claimed that Favour shared part of the responsibility for what happened to her.
His comments were met with swift and widespread condemnation, as many people criticised the remarks as harmful and lacking compassion.
