Activist Israel Joe has shared alleged WhatsApp conversations between 20-year-old Favour Agbro and Asaba-based content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, claiming the messages shed more light on the circumstances leading up to the young woman’s death.
The screenshots, posted on Facebook on Thursday, July 16, 2026, are part of the evidence Joe says he has gathered in the case, which has already resulted in the arrest of Odogwu Asaba by the Delta State Police Command.
According to Joe, the chats show Favour repeatedly asking Ogbonna for financial assistance to treat injuries she allegedly sustained after he sexually assaulted her.
Joe also claimed the messages indicate that before visiting him, Favour had no plans to travel to Abuja and had chosen to remain celibate until marriage, but Ogbonna allegedly persuaded her to come to Asaba instead.
Joe further alleged that the conversations show Ogbonna dismissing Favour’s requests for help and challenging her to report the matter to her parents or the police.
He described the alleged responses as painful for a young woman from a struggling background who had hoped he would accept responsibility.
The activist claimed that after several days, Ogbonna reportedly sent Favour ₦10,000, after which he allegedly resorted to threats and intimidation.
Joe alleged that the development contributed to Favour’s worsening emotional state before her death.
He added that he still possesses additional screenshots, which he intends to submit as evidence in court rather than continue releasing them publicly.
Joe also urged those blaming Favour to review the chats before making judgments about the case.
