Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has appealed for a more robust international partnership, spearheaded by the United States (US) and its allies, to assist Nigeria in tackling terrorism.
Reports indicate that the respected Christian leader cautioned that Nigeria’s deepening security challenges have expanded beyond the areas first affected, creating a threat with far-reaching implications.
Adeboye urges stronger global cooperation against terrorism
Adeboye made the remarks while speaking in Washington, D.C., during the inaugural US/Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala, where he was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Terrorism is now at my doorstep”. he said, stressing that terrorism is no longer an issue that feels distant, describing it as a harsh reality affecting both him personally and countless Nigerians.
The cleric, who had earlier led the RCCG Annual Convention in America in Dallas, Texas, called on the United States and other Western countries to strengthen their support for Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts.
He argued that the magnitude of the security crisis has grown beyond what local institutions can effectively manage on their own.
The ceremony, organised by Save Nigeria Group USA in partnership with the U.S.-Nigeria Civil Society Coalition, took place at the Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC/U.S. Capitol under the theme, “Thank You, America. Please Do More.”
A social media post confirming Pastor Adeboye’s attendance at the U.S.-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala on Tuesday, June 23, can be viewed below via X:
“When we call attention to the killings in Nigeria, we don’t do it to make the Nigerian government look bad, no, not at all. We do it because, as human beings, we can’t look away while people are being killed and abducted.”
He added that the effort was to “get help from those who might be able to help the Nigerian government and people to end the killings and the violence.”

Akande, who co-hosted the event, also received the Voice of Truth Award on behalf of Channels Television’s Inside Sources with Laolu Akande.
The gala served not only as a forum for raising awareness about terrorism and religious persecution but also as an occasion to recognise individuals and organisations acknowledged for their commitment to defending religious freedom, human rights, and justice in Nigeria.
