A Nigerian man has shared why he decided to switch from using a generator to installing a solar power system.
He revealed that he decided to make the move after becoming frustrated with rising fuel expenses and constant mechanical problems associated with his generator.
Man Installs N2.2 Million Solar System
The man, identified by his X handle @itsheadyagain, explained that frequent generator faults and the high cost of petrol pushed him to seek a more reliable solution.
According to him, maintaining the generator became exhausting because he was spending heavily on fuel while still dealing with repeated breakdowns.
He also complained about mechanics who collected money for repairs without providing permanent solutions to the problems.
Flexible Payment Plan Made Installation Possible
The man revealed that paying for a solar setup at once was difficult financially, so he searched for a company offering a flexible payment arrangement.
He said he eventually found a company that allowed customers to save toward installation and pay 50 percent upfront before the system was installed.
After paying an initial deposit of ₦1.1 million, he said the installation was completed within 48 hours.
The solar setup, which was valued at ₦2.2 million, was a 2.5kVA system designed to power several household appliances without interruption.

Reflecting on the decision, the man described the switch to solar energy as a major relief compared to his previous experience with generators.
He explained that the new setup had eliminated the stress of buying expensive fuel and dealing with unreliable repairs.
