Nigerian streamer Peller has sparked widespread reactions online after a viral video captured him explaining why comedian Shank Comics will not be part of his groomsmen at his forthcoming white wedding.
Peller, whose real name is Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, is preparing to marry his fellow content creator, Jarvis, with their white wedding scheduled to hold on August 1, 2026.
The popular TikTok couple previously held their traditional wedding ceremony in Benin City, Edo State. Following the event, they unveiled premium Aso Ebi packages for guests, priced from N350,000 for four yards to N1 million for twelve yards.
While speaking in the now-viral clip, Peller disclosed that he had personally invited Shank Comics to serve as one of his groomsmen. According to him, the comedian turned down the invitation because he would not be in Nigeria when the ceremony takes place.
The conversation, however, quickly stirred controversy after Peller explained why he had approached Shank Comics. He claimed he reached out to the comedian because several of the people he had already selected as groomsmen could not afford the Aso Ebi, while describing some of them as unattractive.
“I asked Shank to be one of my groomsmen, but he declined because he won’t be in Nigeria. I only contacted him because some of my groomsmen can’t afford the Aso Ebi, and some of them are ugly,” he said.
His remarks immediately generated intense discussion across social media, as many users felt he had embarrassed the same friends he intended to have by his side on one of the biggest days of his life.
