A shepherd of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) and his wife have reportedly died within hours of each other in Ogun State following a violent domestic incident that occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2026.
Evangelist Abidemi Odukoya, who served as Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Iri Orun Parish, was reportedly involved in a physical confrontation with his wife, Adenike Odukoya, at their residence in Akiode Ibogun at about 3:00 AM.
Wife Dies After Reported Domestic Dispute
According to reports, Mrs Odukoya suffered serious head injuries during the incident and became unconscious.
The evangelist reportedly left the house after discovering that his wife was unresponsive.
Their son subsequently raised the alarm, attracting neighbours and members of the local Community Development Association (CDA), who arrived at the residence and attempted to assist her.
Despite the efforts to save her, Mrs Odukoya reportedly died from her injuries.
Evangelist Found Dead on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway
Around 6:00 AM, members of the community reportedly received information that a man had been found dead along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in the Iyana Coker area of Ifo.
CDA officials reportedly went to the location and identified the deceased as Evangelist Odukoya.
According to the report, he had been struck by a vehicle while on the expressway.
Arole TV, which published the account on Facebook on September 1, 2026, also shared a video in which CCC elders discussed the incident in Yoruba.
The platform reported:
“Shepherd and Wife Found Dead in Ogun State After Domestic Dispute. A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2026, in Akiode Ibogun, Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of a shepherd and his wife.”
Police Begin Investigation
The Nigeria Police Force was subsequently said to have intervened and commenced investigative procedures into the circumstances surrounding the two deaths.
Mrs Odukoya was reportedly buried at the family residence at about 2:00 PM on the same day.
Meanwhile, her husband’s family is said to be working with the relevant authorities to secure the release of Evangelist Odukoya’s remains for burial.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from the police or the families of the deceased confirming the circumstances surrounding the incident.
