Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the freed Oyo school principal, has recounted the harrowing ordeal she and the other victims endured in the hands of their suspected terrorist abductors.
Recall that on July 10, 2026, Nigerians were relieved after reports confirmed that the abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State had finally regained their freedom.
After spending 56 days in captivity, Nigerian security agencies successfully secured their rescue and reportedly arrested some of the suspected perpetrators.
Photos and videos confirming the victims’ rescue quickly circulated across social media, with many Nigerians expressing joy and relief over their safe return.
On July 13, 2026, Mrs. Rachael Alamu was interviewed by journalists, during which she shared details of their time in captivity.
She disclosed that the male teachers among the hostages suffered the harshest treatment at the hands of the kidnappers.
According to her, the men were blindfolded, handcuffed, and chained throughout their captivity.
“The men, they had it worse than us because they were blindfolded, handcuffed, and chained, all of them.” She revealed.
Mrs. Alamu also clarified that none of the victims were sexually molested by the terrorists, dismissing the assumptions many Nigerians had made while they were still being held hostage.
“Sexual molestation? No No!” She sharply replied to one of the journalists.
She further explained that the terrorists initially gave the children biscuits during the first week of their abduction, apparently to make them feel comfortable, before eventually stopping.
She said: “When we started, the first week, they were bringing biscuits for them, maybe to make them comfortable, and along the line that stopped. Then, we had to move from one point to another, that was the major problem that we had.”
