The facial expression of an Oyo school principal has attracted significant attention on social media after she was presented with a car by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Senator Sharafadeen Alli.
Senator Alli gifted a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs. Rachael Folake Alamu, the principal of Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area, as a way of recognising the courage and resilience she displayed after surviving a 56-day kidnapping ordeal.
Mrs. Alamu was one of the teachers kidnapped alongside pupils during the May attack on Community High School, Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area.
Reports indicate that throughout their time in captivity, the kidnappers compelled her to appear in multiple videos, which were used to relay their demands and communicate with people outside the camp.
Speaking during the presentation of the vehicle, Alli commended the principal for her bravery, calm disposition and unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the abducted pupils despite the traumatic circumstances.
He explained that the vehicle was presented as a gesture of appreciation for her exceptional courage and as a sign of support for victims affected by insecurity.
He also expressed optimism that the gift would aid her recovery and encourage her as she resumes her professional responsibilities.
The presentation has continued to stir conversations across social media platforms.
Although many users praised the APC governorship candidate for honouring the principal with the vehicle, others shifted their attention to Mrs. Alamu’s facial expression during the event, with some claiming she did not appear excited despite receiving the gift.
