The death of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) chieftain Koko Zaria’s close associate, Toba Ijaya, has continued to stir emotions, with the union leader visibly overcome by grief in a video that surfaced online.
Koko Zaria, whose real name is Ganiyu Ayinde Oyedepo, was seen in tears in a video posted on Instagram on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, as he mourned Toba Ijaya following the tragic news that sent shockwaves across the Lagos transport community.
The emotional clip was accompanied by Pasuma’s song “TALOPA JESU (Live)”, which played in the background while Koko Zaria struggled to hold back his emotions.
Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as Toba Ijaya and the organising secretary of the NURTW Lagos State Council, was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen while returning home from his childhood neighbourhood in Fadeyi, Lagos.
Reports indicated that the assailants intercepted his vehicle along the Ikorodu Road axis before opening fire on it, leaving the car riddled with bullets.
News of his killing reverberated across the Lagos transport industry and beyond, triggering widespread condolences from friends, colleagues, and associates.
