Kiekie and fashion designer Veekee James have sparked reactions online following a moment captured at Nollywood couple Lateef Adedimeji and Mo Bimpe’s thanksgiving party for their triplets in Lagos.
The incident, which took place on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, was captured on video and showed Kiekie and Veekee James exchanging greetings while Olori Ashley Afolasade Ojaja-Ogunwusi, a queen of the Ooni of Ife, was seated between them.
The footage, shared on Instagram by @goldmynevibes, quickly attracted attention, with many social media users debating whether the interaction was appropriate.
Some Nigerians criticised the two celebrities, arguing that greeting across or over a seated royal figure goes against traditional Yoruba etiquette and could be perceived as disrespectful.
Others, however, focused on the reaction of Olori Ashley, who remained composed as the exchange took place.
At the time the video generated widespread reactions online, neither Kiekie nor Veekee James had publicly responded to the criticism surrounding the incident.
The event was organised to celebrate the arrival of Lateef Adedimeji and Mo Bimpe’s triplets and attracted several prominent personalities, including members of the Ooni of Ife’s royal household.
The Ooni of Ife had previously joined in celebrating the couple following the birth of their triplets.
The viral footage continues to generate discussions among social media users, particularly over the importance of observing traditional customs and royal etiquette at public gatherings.
