MultiChoice has broadened the range of sports programming available on Nigeria’s leading pay-TV platforms, DStv and GOtv, by introducing SportyTV, a dedicated 24-hour sports channel for subscribers on selected subscription packages.
In a statement, the company announced that SportyTV is now available on DStv channel 236 for customers subscribed to the DStv Yanga package, while GOtv users on the GOtv Jolli package can tune in via channel 58.
Beyond Nigeria, the sports channel has already been rolled out in several African countries, including Kenya and Ghana.
MultiChoice explained that the launch of SportyTV is designed to complement SuperSport’s existing sports coverage by giving subscribers access to an even broader selection of live sporting events.
Viewers can look forward to a diverse lineup featuring football, basketball, combat sports, and other major competitions.
According to ThisDay, the channel will also provide regular sports news updates, expert analysis, match highlights, and exclusive content centered on popular teams.

SportyTV is expected to strengthen SuperSport’s programming by offering additional live fixtures alongside complementary sports coverage.
Rendani Ramovha, Director of Sport Content for English and Portuguese-speaking Africa at CANAL,+ noted that the collaboration will give football supporters greater access to some of the world’s biggest competitions.
Among the football competitions scheduled to air on SportyTV are the English Premier League, Carabao Cup, EFL Championship, Women’s FA Cup, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and the Spanish Super Cup.
The programming will also extend to South American football, featuring tournaments such as the Copa Libertadores, the Argentina League, and Brazil’s Serie A.
In addition, viewers can enjoy NBA basketball, combat sports, and a variety of international sporting events.
Punch reports that the channel will further enrich its content with dedicated club television networks, including Real Madrid TV, Arsenal TV, Chelsea TV, and Manchester City TV, while also broadcasting league competitions from Greece and Saudi Arabia.
