A Nigerian producer and director has taken to social media to share his final messages with late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, a revelation that has further stirred reactions among users online.
He shared the post on his Instagram handle following the actor’s death, which became one of the major topics of discussion in the Nigerian entertainment industry on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
The producer, known as @saheedapanpa on Instagram, disclosed that he had been concerned about Alexx Ekubo after noticing his prolonged absence from social media.
According to him, he repeatedly checked on the Nigerian actor, only to receive reassurances that everything was fine.
Based on a screenshot of their conversation, Apanpa reportedly reached out to the actor, expressing concern and revealing that he had been thinking about him.
He offered prayers for his well-being and safety, hoping he was doing okay. “Brotherly thought of you, I hope you are okay. I pray that you are fine,” he wrote.
In response, the actor reassured the producer that he was fine, appreciated him for checking in, and asked about his well-being in return.
He also described the gesture as thoughtful and heartfelt, implying that it meant a great deal to him.
Following the release of the chat screenshots, Apanpa honoured his late colleague with an emotional tribute. He reflected on how Ekubo had constantly been on his mind and how he repeatedly reached out to check on his wellbeing.
The producer revealed that in their final exchange, the actor reassured him that everything was fine. According to Apanpa, remembering that last conversation now weighs heavily on him and has left him heartbroken.
He also spoke warmly about Ekubo’s personality, describing him as someone whose presence brightened every space he entered.
He remembered him as a humble and easygoing person, adding that their time working together was always filled with kindness, respect, and genuine camaraderie. Bringing his tribute to a close, the producer prayed for the actor’s peaceful rest and fondly described him as a brother.
He wrote:
“Ikuku. My mind kept going to you and I kept checking in. Last we spoke. You said you were ok and fine. This broke me. Chai. Ur spirit lights up anywhere you enter. Down to earth. We worked and it was always love. Rest in peace my bro.”
