A Nigerian nurse has elicited reactions online after sharing her contrasting work and salary experiences in Nigeria and abroad, highlighting the challenges that pushed her to relocate.
The healthcare worker recounted her demanding routine while practicing in Nigeria, describing how the workload and earnings negatively affected her well-being.
According to her, she worked long hours, covering 21 days each month and up to five days weekly, yet received what she described as a modest take-home pay of ₦45,000 after deductions.
She also revealed that the intense stress began to reflect physically, noting that it affected her appearance over time, including persistent skin breakouts.
In contrast, she explained that her new life abroad has brought significant improvement, both financially and mentally.
She now works fewer days just 12 days a month, three days a week while enjoying a healthier work-life balance and better pay.
Encouraging others to seek better opportunities, she urged Nigerians to consider relocating if the chance arises.
In her words:
“21 days a month, 4-5days a week was what I worked as a nurse in Nigeria, I had big pimples cos of how stressed I was. And oh my take home after Tfare at the end of the month was 45k naira. Now I work 12 days a month, 3 days a week and I have good work life balance and oh my pay. JAPA O!!!!!!”
Her post quickly gained traction online, drawing widespread reactions from Nigerians.
Many users expressed concern over the country’s economic realities, agreeing that poor working conditions and low wages are forcing skilled professionals to seek better prospects outside the country.
