Deji Adeleke, the billionaire businessman and father of Nigerian music star Davido, has spoken about how he maintained his composure during the uncertainty surrounding his brother Ademola Adeleke’s bid for a second term as Osun State governor.
Speaking at a victory celebration on Sunday, August 16, 2026, Deji addressed guests at the event and disclosed that he remained confident about the outcome of the election throughout the period.
The businessman explained that his calmness came from a personal prayer routine based on Bible scriptures, which he used to pray for his brother every day.
According to Deji, he personalised several Bible passages by inserting Ademola’s name into the verses as he prayed.
He mentioned Psalm 118, particularly the declaration, “I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord,” which he repeatedly prayed over his brother.
He also relied on Psalm 121, replacing the usual subject of the passage with “Demola” as he prayed for God’s protection over his brother.
Deji said his prayers focused on asking God to watch over Ademola, protect him from danger and guide him wherever he went.
He further revealed that he repeated some of his affirmations seven times each day, while on fasting days, he increased the routine to three sessions daily.
The billionaire noted that he carried out the prayers privately in a corner of his room and did not tell anyone about what he was doing.
Reflecting on his state of mind during the election, Deji said,
“I was not worried. I had no doubt in my mind that he will win and he will overcome.”
He also disclosed that his prayers addressed the political forces he believed were working against his brother, including opponents he said acted with arrogance and relied on connections to powerful figures.
Recalling the final words of his prayer, Deji said:
“Demola Adeleke comes against them in the power of the Almighty God. Therefore, Demola will defeat them.”
His account offered guests a glimpse into the private spiritual routine he maintained while publicly remaining calm during the closely watched Osun governorship election.
