Tanzania’s Immigration Services Department, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has published the official list of countries whose citizens can travel to the United Republic of Tanzania in 2026 without obtaining a visa in advance.
The updated list includes countries and territories from Africa, the Caribbean, the Asia-Pacific region, as well as a number of British Overseas Territories.
Among those granted visa-free access is a carefully selected group of African countries, representing part of the wider range of nations and territories covered by the exemption.
African countries on Tanzania’s visa-free list
Out of the numerous countries featured on the exemption list, 21 are African nations. Citizens of the following countries are permitted to enter Tanzania without a visa:
1. Angola.
2. Botswana.
3. Burundi.
4. Democratic Republic of Congo.
5. Gambia.
6. Ghana.
7. Kenya.
8. Lesotho.
9. Madagascar.
10. Malawi.
11. Mauritius.
12. Mozambique.
13. Namibia.
14. Rwanda.
15. Seychelles.
16. South Africa.
17. South Sudan.
18. Swaziland.
19. Uganda.
20. Zambia.
21. Zimbabwe.
