Popular chef and content creator Chef Amaka has spoken publicly about the emotional rumours that once trailed her marriage to health influencer Aproko Doctor.
The celebrity cook revealed that shortly after their wedding, many people assumed her husband was incapable of fathering a child because they had not welcomed a pregnancy.
She explained that those claims were entirely untrue, stressing that the actual issue was her diagnosis with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal disorder that can interfere with ovulation and fertility.
Speaking during a recent interview, Amaka recounted that she and Aproko Doctor tied the knot in June, looking forward to building their life together.
Only three months after the wedding, she realised she had missed her menstrual cycle and decided to visit the hospital for medical evaluation.
“I just got married to my husband in June. Three months into the marriage, I didn’t see my period. Then I went to the hospital, they told me I had PCOS,” she recounted.
The medical diagnosis gave her answers about the changes she was experiencing, but she said outsiders were quick to make assumptions about the situation.
Rather than seeking to understand what was happening, many pointed fingers at her husband.
“What made me cry was when they said my husband is not man enough to father a child.” She said.
Amaka further disclosed that PCOS also brought noticeable physical changes, making her the subject of criticism from some people.
She said she gained weight and developed a broader upper-body frame, which led to unkind comments about her appearance.
She added: “I started having upper body structure. Then I started adding weight. When my husband and I stand, I looked way older.”
According to her, some individuals even ridiculed their marriage by calling her “the man of the house.”
She said those remarks became harder to brush aside as time went on. Although the comments about her appearance were painful, Amaka admitted that the rumours directed at Aproko Doctor hurt her the most.
She revealed that hearing people question her husband’s masculinity simply because they had not conceived left her deeply emotional.
She said: “In my head, I’m like all this because I’ve never conceived.”

How netizens reacted to her ordeal;
@Jaymes3x stated: “People are just heartless, wicked and have no honour. If you can mock people for their childlessnessu believe you’re very capable of committing murder for your gain.”
@just1cye noted: “One of the cruelest things you can do is mock a couple struggling with infertility. We’ve normalized making jokes and throwing insults at them. Instead of showing empathy, we shame them for something that is often beyond their control. You have no idea what they’ve been through, how many tears they’ve cried, or how many prayers they’ve prayed. Be KIND”
