Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has finally spoken out to clarify the concerns and questions that arose over her perceived silence following the death of actor Alexx Ekubo.
After the actor passed away in May due to complications associated with liver cancer, social media was filled with emotional tributes from several celebrities who honoured his memory and celebrated his life and career.
Amid the widespread outpouring of grief, however, many observers noticed the absence of a public tribute from Nancy Isime, who was widely believed to share a close bond with the late actor.
This silence did not go unnoticed by fans, as many took to social media to question why the actress had not posted anything in honour of Alexx Ekubo, sparking speculation about the nature of their relationship and her response to his passing.
Addressing the matter, Nancy has now explained her position, making it clear that her decision was not a reflection of indifference or a lack of affection for the late actor.
Speaking in a recent interview with Yanga FM, she stated that she chose to mourn Alexx Ekubo in a more private and personal way that felt authentic to her emotions.
She further revealed that she honoured his memory by using Alexx Ekubo’s photograph as her Instagram display picture, describing it as her own quiet gesture of respect and remembrance.
During the interview, she also reflected on the relationship she shared with the late film star, offering insight into the depth of their friendship.
Nancy described Alex as a sincere friend who left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. She emphasized that one of his most remarkable traits was his consistent willingness to support others, even in moments of disagreement.
She said: “Alex was my friend. He made such an impact. He lived his way and also went out his way, which is very commendable. I will forever love him. He was very supportive even when he no agree with you. Alex had a great mind.”
Nancy also recounted the moment she learned about Alexx Ekubo’s death, explaining that she was behind the wheel when she received the heartbreaking news.
