Popular social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and relevant security authorities to give serious consideration to the exact demand of the armed group holding dozens of schoolchildren and teachers captive in Oyo State.
VDM made the appeal in a video posted online on Monday, June 8, 2026, responding to a fresh clip released by the abductors in which one of the captives spoke directly to the public.
Captive School Principal Addresses the Nation
In the video, Rachael Alamu, principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, urged the government to open dialogue with the kidnappers.
She also moved to counter widespread speculation about the nature of the abductors’ demands, stating that claims of religious coercion, requests for money, or calls for Sharia law were entirely false.
“We have been here all this while for the past 24 days, and we have not been forced to worship in an Islamic way. We have been left alone and they have never troubled us,” she said.
“Concerning Sharia law, they are not demanding Sharia law or money. They only requested the release of some of their people. I don’t know why these rumours are being spread, making the situation more complicated for us.
“Please, don’t play politics with our lives. Nigerians, help us, our lives are in your hands. It is not true that they requested weapons or money. The government should negotiate with them to know those they want released in exchange for our freedom.”
Reports suggest the abductors are seeking the release of inmates currently held at the Agodi and Abolongo correctional facilities.
VDM’s Appeal to the Presidency
Moved by the captive principal’s plea, VDM took to social media to press the President and service chiefs for urgent action.
He wrote:
“New video from OYO state k!dn@ppd victims, The request from the nappers is straight forward this time, FOR THE SAKE OF THOSE POOR INNOCENT CHILDREN PLEASE @officialasiwajubat and all service chiefs consider the request and let those kids return to their parents, let those teachers return to their families, BOLA AHMED TINUBU PLEASE CONSIDER.”
Oyo kidnap incidentÂ
The crisis dates back to May 15, 2026, when armed men launched a coordinated early morning raid on three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The institutions targeted were Community High School in Esinle, Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, and L.A. Primary School.
A total of 46 individuals were reportedly taken, among them 39 pupils and students — some as young as two years old — and seven teachers.
The abduction triggered nationwide outrage, which deepened further after footage emerged showing the killing of Michael Oyedokun, a mathematics teacher at Community High School, while in captivity. A second teacher was also reportedly killed during the initial raid.
With the victims now entering their fourth week in captivity, pressure on the federal government to act decisively continues to mount.
