An X user identified as @Akewusolaf has questioned the glorified legacy of late Toba Ajiboye after an old report from the Nigeria Police Force about the NURTW chieftain resurfaced online.
The Nigerian man quoted an old tweet from the official X handle of the Nigeria Police Force, dated April 25, 2014.
The report stated that kingpins of notorious gangs, including Toba Ajiboye, Adigun Oriyomi, and Yusuf Akinwale, had been arrested for allegedly causing havoc in Mushin, Lagos State.
Following the resurfacing of the report, many Nigerians have begun questioning the glorified legacy of the late NURTW official, popularly known as Toba Ijaya.
Since his tragic death, several narratives have emerged online about his alleged violent activities in the past, with claims that he was involved in leading some notorious gangs in Mushin.
However, some people have portrayed Toba Ijaya as an impactful figure, praising his contributions and highlighting the positive things he reportedly did for people during his lifetime.
After coming across the old police report, @Akewusolaf questioned whether the Toba Ijaya mentioned as one of the kingpins of notorious gangs was the same person now being portrayed as a saint by some members of the public.
He wrote: “This is the same Toba Ijaya that they’re painting as a saint? Omoo.”
