The Big Brother Naija Season 11 live eviction show took a touching turn on Sunday evening as organisers temporarily halted the proceedings to pay tribute to late Nollywood icon Taiwo Hassan, popularly called Ogogo.
Host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu stood before the audience to lead the emotional tribute, describing Ogogo as one of the most accomplished and versatile personalities to emerge from the Nigerian film industry.
He spoke about the late actor’s decades of contribution to Yoruba cinema, highlighting his impact on Nigerian culture and his role in guiding and supporting younger talents who followed in his footsteps.
Ogogo’s Final Journey
Ogogo died on August 23 and was buried the following day, August 24, in his hometown in Ogun State.
His passing sparked widespread mourning among his colleagues, admirers, and other stakeholders in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with several prominent figures paying tribute to the veteran actor.
Ebuka also used the moment to urge viewers watching from home to remember and celebrate the legacy Ogogo left behind.
He noted that the actor’s extensive body of work and the opportunities he created for upcoming performers ensured that his influence would continue well beyond the screen.
