A man identified as Oba Adeyemi has questioned actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele’s response following the death of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Adeyemi’s comments come amid the controversy surrounding Funke Akindele’s birthday celebration, which coincided with the period the late actor was being mourned and buried.
According to him, Funke Akindele ought to have addressed the concerns raised by members of the public after photos from her birthday celebration surfaced online.
He suggested that the actress could have recorded an apology or clarification video explaining that the pictures were taken or shared before she received news of Ogogo’s death.
Adeyemi further claimed that he could not find a condolence message for Ogogo on Akindele’s social media page and also questioned whether she attended the actor’s burial ceremony in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Speaking about the matter, he said:
“I think something is wrøng with Funke Akindele. Since she heard the news that Ogogo had passed, she should have posted an apology video explaining that she posted her birthday pictures before she heard the news.
I didn’t see any condolence message on her page, and there’s no record of her being present at llaro for Ogogo’s burïal.”
The remarks have added another layer to the online discussion surrounding Akindele and the manner in which she marked her 49th birthday while the entertainment industry mourned Ogogo.
However, Adeyemi’s comments represent his personal view of the situation and do not establish that Akindele intentionally disrespected the late actor or that she did not privately mourn him.
Ogogo, who was 66, died on August 23, 2026, leaving colleagues, friends and fans across the Nigerian entertainment industry mourning his passing.
