Nigerian content creator Jubril Oladapo Gbadamosi, popularly known as Officer Woos, has reacted to a viral allegation suggesting that he announced the death of his close friend and longtime collaborator, Broda Shaggi.
The comedian’s rebuttal followed a post that gained traction on X, formerly Twitter, where it was claimed that Officer Woos had broken the news of Broda Shaggi’s death on Instagram.
The controversy started after an X user shared a photo of Broda Shaggi with a caption asserting that Officer Woos had informed his followers about the comedian’s alleged passing.
The post read: “Officer Woos just announced the passing away of his brother Broda Shaggi via his IG page. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
In response, Officer Woos posted a screenshot of the viral claim on his Instagram Story.
He also went further, issuing a formal statement through his legal representatives, Versed Attorneys, on Saturday, in which he firmly described the allegation as false, malicious, and defamatory.
The statement explained that certain anonymous social media accounts intentionally spread unverified claims in a bid to mislead the public.
His lawyers further clarified that Officer Woos has never announced the death of any colleague, associate, or friend on any of his social media platforms.
The statement read:
“Our client has never announced the death of any colleague, friend, or associate on any of his platforms. These publications are entirely manufactured and constitute a deliberate attempt to mislead the public,”
It would be recalled that the comedian had previously debunked another false claim alleging that he was arrested for drug transportation.
This latest misinformation also comes just months after a separate rumour surfaced claiming that Broda Shaggi had been shot while filming near the Sango-Ota Bridge area of Ogun State in March 2026.
