The mother of Olamilekan Ajagungbade, popularly known as Emir, has spoken about the death of her son, days after the incident sent shockwaves across Ile Ife, Osun State.
Emir, a chieftain of the Accord Party, was reportedly killed at a motor park on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
His mother was seen mourning alongside other relatives and sympathisers in a video that surfaced on Friday, September 18, as mourners gathered to pay their final respects to the deceased.
Emir’s mother speaks about his safety
While addressing those present, the elderly woman revealed that she had been aware for some time that her son’s life was under threat.
She explained that she had taken various steps in an attempt to protect him but eventually accepted that some matters were beyond human control.
The grieving mother also asked those around her to check her phone, saying the messages and conversations stored on it would demonstrate the efforts she had made to keep her son safe.
Her remarks provided an emotional insight into the circumstances surrounding Emir’s death and the concerns she had allegedly expressed before the fatal incident.
