MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company, has expanded the entertainment options available to Nigerian viewers with the introduction of two new Novelas+ channels in English and Portuguese across its DStv and GOtv platforms.
The pay-TV company announced in a statement that the channels officially went live on Tuesday, July 1, creating a dedicated home for telenovelas, a genre that continues to enjoy widespread popularity among television audiences.
DStv, GOtv subscribers to access new Novelas+ channels
The company explained that the latest launch follows the strong performance of Novelas TV, which has now been renamed Novelas+. The channel has established itself as the most-watched television station in French-speaking Africa.
With the introduction of the new channels, subscribers on DStv and GOtv in Nigeria will be able to enjoy telenovelas produced in Latin America, the United States, Portugal and Turkey.
According to Tribune, viewers can expect four drama series to air each day from Monday through Friday, with fresh episodes of every series premiering on weekdays.
The channel’s content lineup will revolve around captivating stories centered on love, passion, rivalry and revenge, brought to life by internationally acclaimed actors.

Speaking on the rollout of the new channels, Atinuke Ngozi Babatunde, Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, said the decision reflects the increasing demand for telenovelas among Nigerian viewers.
He said: “Nigerian audiences have long had a strong affinity for emotionally rich telenovelas. We are delighted to bring all the compelling flavours of these global series to viewers, carefully curated and localized for our Nigerian audiences.”
Leadership reports that one of the productions set to air on the English-language Novelas+ channel is the acclaimed Brazilian series Avenida Brasil, featuring Débora Falabella and Adriana Esteves.
The schedule will also include the Turkish romantic comedy Be My Sunshine, starring Ayça Ayşin Turan and Alp Navruz, as well as the 2025 remake of the Mexican classic Doménica Montero, headlined by Angelique Boyer.
Also joining the lineup is the Turkish drama Sin and Roses, starring Murat Yıldırım and Cemre Baysel. The series tells the story of a businessman whose life begins to unravel after a long-hidden family secret comes to light.
According to MultiChoice, the newly introduced channels are intended to deliver premium international storytelling to audiences while further expanding the variety of entertainment offered across its DStv and GOtv services.
