A former staff member of Ogun State Television (OGTV), Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” has been killed alongside her security guard at her residence in the Agodo community along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu Expressway.
The attack reportedly took place in the early hours of Sunday when armed men stormed the broadcaster’s home.
The remains of both victims were subsequently deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, as authorities commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killings.
The incident only came to light after concerned church members visited her home upon noticing her absence from service.
A source recounted how the discovery unfolded:
“They had come around to check on Mrs Oyesiku when they did not see her in the church. On getting to her residence, they found out that the security officer had been killed, and they later also saw that the assailants had also killed Mrs Oyesiku. That was how they raised the alarm in the community.”
The spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident and indicated that the command would release an official statement in due course.
Oyesiku was a widely respected figure within media circles, having served OGTV for several years before her retirement.
News of her death has since triggered an outpouring of grief among former colleagues, friends and residents who knew her.
