A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to recount her personal experience of knowing Stellamaris Okafor, the widow of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, who died after battling an illness.
Former neighbour speaks about late Mr Ibu’s wife
Her comments surfaced amid widespread criticism directed at Stellamaris online, where some social media users accused the widow of mishandling her late husband’s finances.
Posting through her Instagram account, @dekas_dekass, the woman revealed that she had crossed paths with Stellamaris on numerous occasions over the years.
According to her, both families previously lived in the same neighbourhood, and during that time, their daughters attended the same primary school.
Drawing from those personal encounters, she described Stellamaris as humble and respectful, adding that the image currently being painted of her on social media differs from the impression she formed while they were neighbours.
“But honestly iburess is not really a bad person o, I’ve met her severally in the past. We all lived in the same neighbourhood then, her daughter and mine attended the same primary school. She’s very humble and respectful,” she said.
The woman restricted her remarks to what she personally knew about Stellamaris from their time living in the same community. She did not weigh in on the ongoing controversy or offer any fresh claims concerning the late actor’s estate or financial affairs.
