Ify Ekubo, the sister-in-law of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, has opened up about the pain his death has caused her, admitting that she feels deeply hurt and upset over his sudden passing.
The actor reportedly died on Monday, May 11, at a hospital in Lagos after battling complications related to kidney cancer.
In an emotional tribute, Ify said she was finding it difficult to accept that the movie star was gone. She questioned why he left without properly saying goodbye to those who cared deeply about him.
According to her, Alexx had promised to return her call shortly after they spoke before his birthday, but that conversation eventually became their final exchange.
She wrote:
“Ikebobo m!!!! Chaiii!!! Words fail me!!! You didn’t do well this time around. I hope you’re seeing this message. Look how the world is hurting. You left without saying goodbye.”
Ify also disclosed that they already had plans to meet in Houston in June before his death suddenly changed everything.
Expressing her frustration and grief, she said there were still many things they both planned to do together before he passed away.
“We had a lot to finish up!! Plans for June in Houston! Ikebobo you did this to me! I am upset! I am not happy Ikenna!. You told me you will call me back after our phone conversation before your birthday. So that was it?!”
She further described the late actor as an important figure in the lives of her children, saying he played the role of a mentor and elder brother to them.
According to her:
“You were a mentor to my children and their elder brother. They miss you! They miss their uncle. This is not fair!”
