A graduate of Ekiti State University has gone viral after sharing her emotional journey of being the only student in her department throughout her studies.
The young lady, identified as @pretty_ajiwun, revealed that she had no idea she would face such a unique situation when she gained admission in 2021.
She disclosed that she attended lectures alone, read alone, and even sat for examinations without any coursemates.
Sharing her experience, she wrote:
“I got admission into EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY 2021. Little did I know that I’d be the only student. No course mate, just me alone!”
She explained that despite the unusual circumstances, she remained committed to her studies, handling a heavy academic workload each semester.
According to her, she wrote multiple exams on her own and still pushed through to the end.
“Wrote 8 exams alone. Nothing less than 10 courses per semester, attending classes alone, reading alone. But God did it. I signed out yesterday guys.”
She later revealed that she studied B.Sc Environmental Management and Science, adding that her journey was far from easy, contrary to what many might assume.
In another post, she opened up about the emotional toll, stating:
“The whole world thinks being the only student would be easier, but reverse is the case. I am grateful regardless that I conquered this battle alone.”
In another post, she wrote:
“My phone was my best friend I had friends from other departments I see sometimes when we are in school.
But it was still lonely I am very glad it’s over.
Ps. You can’t see any videos of me taking my classes cause I can’t make videos without the lecturer finding out.”
She further reflected on her struggles during her time in school, saying:
“God held my hands all through 100–400 level. WE DID IT! Even though I’m not really happy today. I remember in 300 level I did IT (SIWES) and I had lectures alongside, I wrote 10 exams the same semester, all this being alone and balancing both.”
“I heard the word *UNSERIOUS* all through my 100–400 level. Even when I tried my best or when life was hard. Today I am done, even though no single recognition was given to me by my school. I appreciate myself and the hard work!!! And every challenge I faced.”
“I AM A GRADUATE!”
Her story has since resonated with many online, with social media users flooding her comment section to celebrate her resilience and determination.
