A TikTok user identified as @hannabel_h has voiced strong criticism over public reactions to a viral video of a 33-year-old teacher and a16-year-old student.
Reacting to the trending clip, she expressed disbelief at how many X (formerly Twitter) users, especially men, were treating the situation as something humorous rather than a serious case of abuse.
In her post, Hannabel noted that instead of outrage, several men were seen laughing and celebrating the boy, calling him “guy man” and “odogwu” as though he had achieved a milestone.
She questioned why anyone’s first response to a child in a vulnerable position would be applause, stressing that the teacher is an adult while the boy is a minor — making the act a clear abuse of power.
Hannabel further suggested that the reaction reflects a deeper gender empathy problem in society. She argued that if the situation involved a male teacher and a female student, the backlash would be immediate and intense. However, because the victim is a boy, some people trivialize the matter, claiming he is “enjoying” or “lucky.”
She concluded by reminding the public that a minor remains a minor, insisting that teacher-student sexual relationships are never normal and that the reactions show society still has a long way to go.
