A viral video circulating on social media has stirred controversy after a Fulani man made weighty allegations about the source of weapons used in violent attacks linked to herders, bandits and terrorists.
In the footage, the speaker invokes an oath to the Almighty Allah to assert the truthfulness of his claims, insisting that Fulani herdsmen are not naturally armed people and do not traditionally possess weapons.
According to him, their lifestyle revolves around cattle rearing, not warfare.
The man alleges that the Nigerian government is responsible for supplying firearms, including sophisticated weapons, to Fulani groups.
He argues that herders cannot manufacture or access such arms on their own, using a metaphor that “cows don’t give birth to guns” to emphasize that weapons do not originate from their communities. Instead, he claims the Fulani are being used as instruments by influential political actors.
In a more troubling assertion, the speaker suggests that certain politicians and government figures are backing the violence in the country.
He portrays the herders not as initiators of violence but as victims manipulated for political and ideological purposes.
The viral video has generated significant debate online, with many calling for an investigation into the allegations due to their sensitive and potentially destabilizing nature.
