Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has shared an emotional account of his final meeting with his longtime friend and colleague, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after battling stage 4 cancer and was buried the following day in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Two days after the burial, Quadri took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt tribute, reflecting on their friendship, which began in 1984 and lasted for more than four decades.
Quadri Recalls Hospital Visit
Quadri recalled visiting Ogogo in the hospital during his final days and becoming emotional after seeing his ailing friend lying on the hospital bed.
According to him, Ogogo noticed his tears and tried to reassure him despite his own condition.
“You looked at me and said, ‘Yinka, don’t cry. Nothing bad will happen to me,’” Quadri wrote.
He said he responded, “Yes, Amen.”
Quadri further recalled that Ogogo later asked for a bottle of water and drank from it before telling the doctors that he had eaten that morning.
The moment gave Quadri renewed hope, as he wrote, “At that moment, I said, ‘Glory be to God.’ My hope and faith became even stronger.”
A Friendship That Started in 1984
Quadri described his relationship with Ogogo as one that went beyond acting, saying their friendship survived disagreements and rumours of a fallout.
He recalled how people often expected the two actors to avoid each other at public events, only to see them laughing, chatting and walking together.
“What made our friendship special was the way we handled our disagreements,” he wrote.
Quadri described Ogogo as a brother, confidant and companion, adding, “I have always said that we were twins from heaven, only born to different mothers.”
Concluding his tribute, he wrote: “You may have left this world, but you will never leave my heart.”
“Rest peacefully, my beloved friend. Rest well, my brother.”
