A Nigerian medical doctor has weighed in on the health condition of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Sir Ogogo, after the actor’s daughter disclosed that he is battling Stage 4 cancer.
The doctor, identified on X as The Beared Dr Sina, shared his thoughts on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, while making it clear that he has no involvement in the actor’s treatment or medical care.
According to the medical practitioner, he decided to address the matter because three claims made in Ogogo’s daughter’s video had begun circulating widely online and could potentially create misconceptions about cancer treatment.
Doctor addresses claim about Ogogo’s treatment
One of the issues Dr Sina addressed was the daughter’s statement that the doctors treating her father had stopped providing treatment.
He described the claim as “a dangerous statement”, arguing that it could negatively affect the reputation of the healthcare professionals caring for the actor.
The doctor explained that reaching Stage 4 cancer can significantly change the objective of medical treatment. At that stage, particularly when the disease has spread extensively, doctors may focus on palliative care.
Palliative care is aimed at controlling symptoms, easing discomfort and helping the patient maintain the best possible quality of life rather than pursuing treatment with the expectation of a cure.
Explaining the objective of such care, Dr Sina said the goal is to give “the person a good quality of life before death” rather than abandon the patient.
Doctor warns against herbal remedies
Dr Sina also reacted to the family’s appeal for herbal treatment for the veteran actor.
He warned against relying on herbal mixtures as a treatment for Stage 4 cancer, stressing that there is no herbal concoction that has been established as a cure for the condition.
According to him, unverified substances could potentially cause additional damage to the patient’s organs and introduce further health complications.
He also cautioned that pursuing ineffective remedies could result in the loss of valuable time and financial resources.
What Stage 4 cancer means
The doctor further used the opportunity to explain the meaning of a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis.
He noted that the term generally indicates that cancer has spread from where it originally developed to other parts of the body.
Dr Sina encouraged Ogogo’s family to maintain communication with the medical professionals managing his condition and work alongside them.
In his appeal to the family, he said, “your doctor knows what’s best.”
His comments have since generated reactions from Nigerians online, with many people discussing the medical perspective alongside the emotional difficulties that come with watching a loved one battle an advanced illness.
Dr Sina reiterated that his comments were based on general medical knowledge and that he was not part of Ogogo’s medical team.

So many things to unpack here about the news of Sir Ogogo aka Taiwo Hassan having Stage 4 cancer.
But there are some things it would be good to correct from the daughter’s words because I see some tweets saying Nigerian Doctors don’t want to treat and give chemo….. ( PS. I am… https://t.co/vep1pHwian
