APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru has delivered his polling unit to the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
At Polling Unit 003 in the Alagba area of Osogbo, where Basiru and his wife, Abibat, voted, Oyebamiji secured 177 votes.
Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party came second with 60 votes, while African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Najeem Salaam polled three votes.
The Action Alliance (AA), Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) each recorded one vote.
Basiru Speaks After Voting
Speaking after casting his ballot, Basiru commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the timely deployment of personnel and election materials across the state.
The APC chieftain also praised the turnout of voters, saying it demonstrated citizens’ commitment to the democratic process.
He commended security agencies for maintaining peace and order at polling centres during the exercise.
Basiru described the voting process as peaceful and expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious in the governorship election.
The result from his polling unit is among the early figures emerging as counting and collation continue across Osun State.
