Dr. Adeyinka Fakunmoju, a retired military officer, has reacted to the rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers who were kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Speaking in an interview with AIT, Dr. Fakunmoju said he was disappointed that it took the government more than 50 days to rescue the victims. He said he has not seen any kidnapper killed or captured during the rescue operation.
Dr. Fakunmoju said he did not see any sign that there was physical confrontation between the security operatives and the kidnappers. He said this could mean a ransom was paid for the victims’ release.
In Dr. Fakunmoju’s words:
“We don’t know the conditions upon which they were released. I stand to be corrected that the violence entrepreneurs have made it again. We did not see any kidnapper captured or dead, so that means there was no confrontation. It means that maybe ransom was paid.”
