A journalist identified as Promise Uzoma Okoro has taken to Facebook to express deep pain and disappointment following the emergence of tapes involving Bishop James Ogwo of Oyoyo Outreach Ministry, which have since set the internet buzzing with reactions.
In his post, Okoro made clear that his anguish stems from a personal familiarity with the clergyman, describing Bishop Ogwo as a respected figure from Bende in Abia State whose dedication to the work of God had earned him widespread admiration over the years.
The journalist recalled how the bishop built a formidable reputation through his deliverance ministry, attracting people from far and near who sought spiritual assistance.
He was widely known for his boldness in confronting what he believed were manifestations of evil, including uprooting idols and preaching firmly against practices he considered contrary to the Christian faith.
Okoro also referenced a notable moment when the bishop made a prophetic declaration in Alayi, warning that those engaged in evil deeds would face divine consequences, a declaration that left a lasting impression on many who witnessed it.
Against that backdrop, the journalist described the current controversy as particularly painful for those who had known and respected the bishop over the years, noting that when someone who has laboured for decades in ministry becomes entangled in a scandal of such nature, it naturally evokes deep concern and heartbreak among admirers.
In his words:
“The reason I am deeply pained and disappointed is because Bishop James Ogwo is not just another minister of the Gospel. He is our own brother from Bende in Abia State , a man who has earned respect over the years through his commitment to the work of God.
While growing up, Bishop Ogwo was widely known for the extraordinary dimensions of his deliverance ministry. Many people travelled from far and near seeking spiritual help, and his ministry became synonymous with boldness in confronting evil.
He was renowned for uprooting idols and preaching against practices he believed were contrary to the Christian faith. I still remember when he made a prophetic declaration in Alayi, proclaiming that those involved in evil deeds would face divine judgment. Those were moments that shaped the perception many people had of his ministry.
That is why the recent developments involving him are particularly painful to many of us who have known him for years. When someone who has laboured for decades in ministry becomes the subject of controversy with immorality , it naturally evokes concern among those who have admired and respected his work.”
